Attending UK Carehomes
The Zimmers plan to work closely with charitable organisation ‘Golden Oldies’ which gets care home and nursing home residents together for singing sessions. The band will endevour to turn up to support as many of the special events put on by the ‘GO’ charity who’s patrons include Jamie Cullum.
The band also plan to perform as The Zimmers at as many of these events as possible, the cross promotion of the two brands will assist in achieving both parties goals, the golden oldies to get care homes all over the world singing together and The Zimmers to entertain and retain their place as the pinnacle of OAP entertainment and mind and body activity.
Educating their generation
With many elderly people feeling that the care home is the final stop in their journey through life, The Zimmers, who’s band members include many technical and computer literate individuals want to show and educate the carers and the residents on the simple use of computers and the internet, effectively opening up a new world to the residents.
At the same time there is the plan to obtain older business PC’s for refurbishment and installation into the care homes for the residents to use (currently less than 10% of care homes have internet access for the residents). Businesses such as PC World have expressed an interest in sponsoring such activities.
